Hilda Tonkin Sartini

Hilda Tonkin Sartini, 84, of Plains, passed away Monday June 8, 2026, at Lakewood Healthcare Center, where she recently resided.

Born in West Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Earl Tonkin, Sr. and Martha Beardsley Tonkin, she attended Exeter Schools and went on to be a CNA. Hilda worked for many Hospitals and Nursing Facilities, she spent the majority of her over 40-year career at Mercy Hospital, where she retired from the Skilled Nursing Department.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas D. Sartini, and her son-in-law, Leonard J. Sarnick.

She is survived by her daughters; Deneen Sarnick, Plains, Maria Gyle and her husband Wayne, Jenkins Twp., and Kimberly Sartini, Plains, her brother, Clyde Tonkin, Jr., Wilkes-Barre, and her grandchildren, who she was so proud of; April Sarnick, Leonard Sarnick, III, Wayne T. Gyle, Brian Gyle and his wife Kayla, Addison Sartini-Williams and great-grandchildren, Karter, Karson, Jasper, and Jason Gyle, and Tristan Tokach, and numerous nieces and nephews. And her cat campion Mama.

We would like to thank Dr Arthur Mitchell and the entire staff at Lakewood and the Wilkes Barre General Hospital who went above and beyond for our Mother. We cannot thank you all enough.

The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday June 13, 2026 from 9-11AM at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC. 251 William St., Pittston.

A Blessing Service will be held at 11AM in the Funeral Home with Brother Vieney officiating.

Interment will take place in the Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming.
