William J. Kroptavich, 85, of Duryea, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Born in Duryea on January 19, 1941, he was the son of the late John and Edna (Abent) Kroptavich.


William was a graduate of Duryea High School, Class of 1959. He retired as a self-employed contractor and owner of Bill Kroptavich Construction, through which he built several residential homes locally. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Kashuba, and his brothers, James and Robert Kroptavich.


William is survived by his wife, Lillian (Lapinski) Kroptavich; his daughter, Christine Kroptavich, of Duryea; his sons, Anthony Kroptavich, of Duryea, and William Kroptavich and his wife, Celeste, of Shohola, PA; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sisters, Marion Kroptavich, of Duryea, and Eleanor Romanczuk and her husband, Robert, of Dupont; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Duryea.


Arrangements are entrusted to Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
