Anne Dillon, 79, of Lynnwood, Washington, formerly of Moosic and Avoca, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on March 11 after a long illness.

Born October 23, 1945, in New York City, Anne was the daughter of the late Ferdinand Dillon, and was raised by the late Joseph Dente, Sr. and Therese Ruddy Dillon Dente. She graduated from St. John the Evangelist High School in Pittston and received a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from Marywood College. She earned four master’s degrees (University of Scranton, Marywood, and Wilkes University).She taught in the Riverside School District for 34 years and retired in 2001. She served as past president of the Riverside PTA and as a delegate to the National PTA. She also taught at the Scranton Hebrew Day School.
A lifelong member of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was on the Respect Life/Social Concerns Committee.Anne won her battle with breast cancer in 2008 and was active in the PA Breast Cancer Coalition and Northeast Regional Cancer Institute survivors’ organization.
She loved to travel; visiting all 50 states in addition to 29 other countries. In 2014, she moved to Washington State to be near her beloved granddaughter, Eleni, whom she adored. She was active in the Women’s Guild of St. John Mission Church in Mukilteo, WA.
Anne was a friend to everyone she met. She was generous with her time and was a passionate advocate for many causes. She was deeply devoted to her family and friends and was a devout Catholic.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Marie Carr; brothers William Dillon, Kenneth Dillon, and Carmen Dente, Sr.; and nieces Therese Dillon and Susanne Dente.
She is survived by a son, Dionisios Vervitsiotis and wife Christine, and granddaughter Eleni of Alderwood Manor, Washington; a brother Joseph Dente, Jr. and wife Ellen of Moosic; cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Anne's family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Bristol Hospice Everett for their care and support.
Anne’s funeral will be Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Queen of the Apostles Parish, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca, to be concelebrated by Rev. Philip Sladicka, Pastor. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 5:00 -7:00 PM on Wednesday evening, March 19th at the funeral home.
