In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Leroy A. Knowles Sr.; her son Stephen Nyzio; and her brother Joseph Homschek.

She is survived by her loving son, Joseph Nyzio and his wife Toni Ann, of Pittston; her daughter-in-law, Leanne Nyzio of Carverton, stepsons, Joseph Knowles and his wife Sandy, of Pittston, Leroy Knowles Jr. and his wife Tanya, of Pittston, and William Knowles and his companion Pam, of Harding; stepdaughter, Joanne Mortimer and her husband John, of Pittston; also surviving are her grandchildren: Joleen, Nicole, and Anthony Nyzio; Amanda, Briana, Kelsey, and Alyssa Knowles, Jordan and Alexandria Mortimer, her sister, Mary Jo Morreale, of Pittston; along with her nieces and nephews: Amy Morreale, Sammy Morreale, Alan and Jeff Homschek, and great nephew Michael Crawford.

Graveside memorial services will take place on Friday morning September 26th at 10:00am at St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Pittston with Fr. Andrii Dumnych officiating.  Friends may call for visitation on Thursday evening September 25th from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc. 255 McAlpine St. Duryea.
