Dominick J. Steffen, 89, of Pittston, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Pittston on October 17, 1936, he was the son of the late Dominick and Mary (Colarusso) DeStefano.

Dominick was a member of Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, Pittston. He graduated from Pittston Township High School, Class of 1954, and loved playing football and baseball in his youth. He had fond memories of selling blueberries, caddying at nearby golf courses, and working as a pleater with his brother Anthony in the local garment industry as he was growing up. His favorite dish was his mother’s ciambotta vegetable soup.
He proudly served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958 during which time he traveled by ship to England and then by rail to Germany where he was stationed. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting from King’s College within an accelerated three-year timeframe. He enjoyed providing services as a Certified Public Accountant both locally and in the Poconos during his long and dedicated career.
Dominick cherished his family, especially his grandsons, Justin and Jacob Doran, who were his utmost pride and joy. He was kind and caring to many beloved family cats over his lifetime and an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles, and Penn State Nittany Lions. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Anthony DeStefano, Esther Steffen, Rose Marie DeStefano, and Joseph DeStefano, as well as his nephew, Robin Monahan, and his niece, Mary Grace Destefano.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Olga (Ermolovich) Steffen; his daughters, Suzanne Steffen, of Pittston, and Jennifer Doran and her husband Brian, of Dallas; his cherished grandsons, Justin and Jacob Doran; his brother, Frank Destefano of Pittston; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:30am at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with Sister Maryann Cody of Our Lady of The Eucharist Parish Church officiating. The AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston will provide military honors. Friends may call for visitation on Saturday morning from 9:30am until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County or the University of Scranton, William V. Rakauskas, Ed.D. ’61 and Marie Rakauskas Memorial Scholarship.
