Helene E. Girman, 66, of Pittston, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville surrounded by loved ones. Born in Pittston on February 11, 1960, she was the daughter of Joseph Girman and the late Carole (Polachek) Graff.

Helene was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1978. Throughout her life, she was employed in various positions and always rose to the top. It wasn’t her careers that she found important, it was the people she met along the way. Helene’s true success can be measured in the amount of smiles she put on people’s faces.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joey Girman.
She is survived by her partner in crime of 45 years, Mary Jo Armitage. She was Mary Jo’s Thelma, and Mary Jo was her Louise; together, they shared an amazing life filled with stories and memories. Helene was a bonus mom to Raymond, Bobby, and Eric Masher, helping to raise them as if they were her own, and she cherished all of her bonus grandchildren. She was also Aunt Helene to so many. Her godchildren are David and Kaalyn Girman, and Eric and Erica Masher. In addition to Joseph Girman (father) Helene is also survived by her siblings, David Girman (Vanessa) of Dupont, Lisa Girman Johnson (Jenipher) of Florida, and Jill Girman of Duryea, along with several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with Fr. Andrii Dumnych of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston, officiating.
Friends may call for visitation on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
