It is with deep love we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Born in Pittston in 1932, she was the daughter of the late, James and Helen (Occulto) Nuzzalo.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Fred, sister Sarah (Sally) Murphy and husband Patrick Murphy.

She was a graduate of West Pittston High School. In 1953 she married Fred C. Melvin, the love of her life. Their 66 years of marriage stood as a testament of devotion, partnership, and enduring

commitment. Together they built a home filled with laughter, faith, resilience, and unconditional love. Marie was a beautiful, and creative seamstress who crafted each piece with care and imagination.

As a mother of five children, she gave selflessly of herself every day. With pride and joy, she guided them with wisdom, patience, and gentle strength. She was further blessed with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Whether around the dinner table,

celebrating holidays, or sharing quiet everyday moments, she made each person feel special and deeply loved.

Marie is survived by her brother Thomas Nuzzalo (Theresa); her five children, Fred Melvin and his children Summer (Chris) Belles, and Joshua; Karen (John) Ferrett and daughters Kara and Alexandra (Stanley) Yanik; Richard (Diane) Melvin; Jon (Mary Kay) Melvin and daughter Courtney; Kathi Ruane and sons Lukas and Sage; 4 great-grandchildren, Mia & Andie Belles, Grant and Colin Yanik; nieces and nephews. Also survived by sister in law, Marie Lucille Melvin.
