Santo A. Agati, 83, of Harveys Lake, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026 in Highland Manor, Exeter.

Born in Pittston on May 14, 1942, he was the son of the late Anthony R. Agati, Sr. and Stephanie Volpe Agati.

Santo was a graduate of West Pittston High School, class of 1960.  He received a bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University, class of 1964 and received a juris doctorate degree from Villanova University School of Law, class of 1967.

Santo had a passion for learning and pursued numerous careers during his life.  Upon graduation from law school, Santo served as a government tax examiner and later as an accountant for a major accounting firm.  Several years later, Santo decided to move home to be closer to his family, opened a law practice and appeared before state and federal courts in Pennsylvania as well as the US Tax Court.  Later, he served as a business manager for a large construction company and finally as a member of the Information Technology staff at Luzerne County Community College where he retired.

Santo also had a passion for tradition and family.  He traveled to Sicily many times during his life, developing close bonds with his relatives overseas.   However, he enjoyed his Sicilian travels most when he was joined by his parents, brother and his son.  His commitment to tradition extended to his longstanding involvement in the local San Cataldo Society in Pittston, where he served as a member for over 50 years.   Santo never missed a chance to meet with old friends, make new ones, and recount an old story from the past.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank S. Agati.

Surviving are his son, Anthony J. Agati and his wife Amanda and his granddaughters, Scarlett and Bianca; brother, Anthony R. Agati and his wife Betty Mae of West Pittston; nieces and cousins.

Visitation will take place Monday, April 6, 2026, from 10am-11am in Corpus Christi Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am.  Interment, Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Frank S. Agati Scholarship Fund at Luzerne County Community College.

Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, Pittston.
