William A. Esser, Jr.
William A. Esser, Jr., 71, of Avoca, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. Born July 23, 1955, in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, he was the son of the late William A. Esser and Bernice (Hall) Esser.
Bill was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish in Avoca. After graduating from Nazareth High School, he joined the United States Navy. He later worked as a truck driver for several years and was employed by several local trucking companies.
Bill loved hunting and fishing, especially camping. He was a member of Avoca VFW Post 8335.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sisters, Terry Davis, Gerry Rossnagle, and Kimberly Ann Esser, and his brother, Scott Esser.
Bill is survived by his wife of 37 years, Miriam (McFarland) Esser; his sons, Robert Esser and his wife, Jamie, of Wilkes-Barre, and Jeremy Esser of Wilkes-Barre; his grandchildren, Jayden, Evan, and Dylan Esser; his sisters, Dawn Johnston and her husband, Clifford, of Kutztown, and Jolene Esser of Hanover; and his brothers, Wayne Esser and his wife, Jan, of Bear Creek, Darrel Esser and his wife, JoAnn, of Pittston, and Dirk Esser of Pittston. He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Bill will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
