Ann T. Freas of Hughestown passed away on September 3, 2026.  She was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Freas whom she shared 15 years of marriage.

Born in Pittston on March 12, 1930, she was the oldest daughter of the late Annette Rheinschmidt and Alfred Rheinschmidt.  Ann is proceeded in death by her brother Carl Rheinschmidt and wife Katherine, her sister Lois Skutack and husband Peter.

Ann graduated from St. John the Evangelist High School in 1948.  Upon graduation, she was employed at Bell of Pennsylvania as an Operator in the Traffic Department and retired as a Service Advisor in 1983.

When you think of kindness, you think of Ann.  She loved everyone and that love was reciprocated.  Funny, smart, confident, and adventurous, she met life head-on.  Her interests were gardening and reading with her cats and swimming.  But her favorite thing to do was travel with her husband to such places as St. Thomas, Cancun, Hawaii Bermuda, and other places.  In support of St, Mary's Assumption church and school, she became a eucharistic minister and counted the money collected from the masses and making the weekly deposits.  Showing her creative side, she became involved in the prayer shawl ministry.  Ann volunteered at the school Halloween Bonanzas meeting new and old friends while peeling mountains of potatoes. As a member of the Greater Pittston Business and Professional Women’s Club, she satisfied her desire to give back to her community through various projects.  Ann was truly the central part of the family and valued by all of us.  Her love and kindness to others is her legacy that will pass down to the next generation.

Surviving are many nieces and nephews.  She is loved by all and will be forever missed.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 1:00pm at St. Mary’s Help of Christians Church (Community of Saints Parish) 535 N. Main St. Pittston, with Fr. Joseph Elston officiating.  Friends may call for visitation on Wednesday afternoon at the church from 12:00PM until time of mass. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Assumption Cemetery, Hughestown.
