Bernadine (Kuna) Bryk

Bernadine (Kuna) Bryk, 87, of Dupont, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Dupont, March 4, 1938, she was the daughter of the late William and Constance (Porzucek) Kuna.

A lifelong and devoted member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Dupont, Bernadine attended Dupont High School.  She worked for many years as a seamstress for Pittston Garment before dedicating herself to raising her beloved family.  Deeply involved in her parish community, she served as president of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Mother’s Guild and was a past co-chairwoman along with her husband Vincent of the one of the church’s parish picnics.


Bernadine found joy in her flower garden, solving puzzle books, and preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. Sundays were especially dear to her, as she cherished time spent with family and friends.  She was a proud mother, grandmother, and great grandma B and a kind soul who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Vincent “Chucky” Bryk, who died December 17, 2016; her sisters, Theresa Kuna, Mary Ann Kuna, Eleanor Bryk, Irene Truskowski, and Dolores Potorski; and her brothers, Edward Kuna, William Kuna and Chester “Butchie” Kuna.


She is survived by her loving children: Marlene Bryk, of Dupont; Bernard and his wife Joann; of Dupont, Christine Bryk Lombardo of Pittston Twp.; and Mary Ann Vogue and her husband Gary, of Pittston Twp.


Bernadine is also survived by her cherished grandchildren:  Nicole, Patrick Jr., Christopher, Marissa, Kayla, Krista and Joshua; and her adored great grandchildren: Khloe Sophia, Madison and Westin.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 10:30 from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont.  Friends may call for visitation on Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 9:00am until time of service. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery.
