Ellen Marie Meade, 74, of Pittston, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Born in Moosic on March 30, 1952, she was the beloved daughter of the late John P. Meade and Josephine (Salmon) Meade.

A 1970 graduate of Cathedral High School, Ellen continued her education at the Meridian School of Nursing in Scranton. She dedicated her career and her life to caring for others as a nurse at Mercy Hospital, now Regional Hospital of Scranton.

Ellen was truly one of a kind—deeply independent, exceptionally creative, and always the source of unforgettable experiences. In her younger years, she loved traveling the world and embracing new adventures. In later years, she found joy in watching sunrises in Atlantic City.

Exceptionally handy and resourceful, Ellen could always be counted on to create, repair, or figure things out. She enjoyed stained glass, crocheting, knitting, and baking, often sharing the things she made with family, friends, and coworkers. Her creativity, generosity, independence, and unmistakable personality made her someone who will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

She is survived by her brother, John P. Meade Jr., and his wife, Staton (Monk) Meade, of Jenkins Township; her nieces, Jenny Long and her husband, Joseph, of Jenkins Township, and Jamie Anushko and her husband, Keith, of Malvern; and her nephew, Matthew Meade, and his wife, Clarissa, of Avoca. She is also survived by her great-nieces and great-nephews, Joseph, Jack, and Julia Rose Long, and Sophie Celeste Anushko.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
