Christine M. Hine, 87, of North Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

 

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Elizabeth (McEnaney) O’Brien. 

 

She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Wilkes-Barre, and College Misericordia, Dallas, where she earned her Nursing degree.  She had worked as an operating room nurse at the former Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, and later retired as a processing associate from Lord & Taylor Distribution Center.

 

She enjoyed helping people. She volunteered with the Association for the Blind and was a member of the Red Hats for many years. She had been an election volunteer, working the polls in Wilkes-Barre for many years.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Hine, a brother, Bernard O’Brien, and sisters, Margaret White, Barbara Eckenrode, and Joan Buffington.

 

She will be sadly missed by her children, Christine Wyosocki and husband, Stephen, Linda Zak and husband, Jerome, Patricia Chupka, Lori Ostowski and husband Ronald Jr., Lawrence Hine Jr and wife Dana, 7 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, Wilkes-Barre.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Northeast Sight Services, 1825 Wyoming Avenue, Exeter, PA 18643.
